New Duo in the Booth.

Interdonato has a lot of stuff up about practices, but Sal's post about the new broadcast team on CBS College Sports Network caught my eye.

The new broadcast duo for Army home games will be Gary Thorne and Randy Cross

I would have been happy sticking with Sehorn and Dave Ryan but I am not disappointed about the change because I like Gary Thorne. Thorne is knowledgeable, excitable, and he's an experienced broadcast pro. I also think it will be interesting to see how Thorne's frenetic diction will take to Army's ball control philosophy.

I don't know the reason behind the switch, but I think this move is evidence of the strength of CBS's broadcast relationship with Army football. CBS is investing some of its best people into the CBS College Sports brand.  It’s another reason why I’m looking forward to this year’s home games.

Thorne pairs with returning analyst Randy Cross for Army home games. Cross will continue to be the analyst for Navy home games, teaming this season with announcers Tim Brant and Josh Lewin, who will handle two games each. With his role this season, Cross becomes the first announcer to call both Army and Navy home games throughout a season.

Just a couple of weeks away, now.
