Library Vol. 8

So I'm finally getting it in gear. Finding useful and interesting content is tough when there is little happening in college football. Luckily I found a new library entry both fascinating and immediately useful. Here is another addition to the football library - a stunning history of Princeton Athletics which was unearthed during my research of the 1877 season.

Athletics at Princeton: A History is an amazing collection of statistical record & anecdotal evidence and serves as one of the best chronologies of early American football that I have seen.

This book examines the sporting history of Princeton from 1859-1900 including descriptions of early American football from as early as 1840.

I encourage you to read up with this entry's thorough description of the college football rules changes up to 1877 as I get the next year-by year installment ready.

Considering the wealth of early football history included in this book it is easy to call this entry one of the best added to this website's (slowly) growing football library. I can guarantee that I will be revisiting this text as I move forward with the football year-by-year project. I eagerly anticipate posting the 1877 edition of these year-by-year, which will be aided and made more complete with this online text.

Click the Library tab above to find the other entries in the library and do enjoy this special addition to the collection.

It is the mission of The Unbalanced Line Online Library to present important and interesting historical texts to college football fans. Items will be added regularly as blog postings and can be easily indexed in the Yearbooks button on the site bar.
