Post Rutgers Items

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

I'll never be accused of over-analyzing a loss and it's losses like these that make me even less enthusiastic about posting a post-game wrap. I've been putting this exercise off long enough though. My take on the game is this: A below average Army team lost to a straight-up average Rutgers team.

Army's performance seems to tail as games go on Sal says it's a matter of focus.

Speaking of Sal he's got another nice chat up.

Mohammed Sanu made Big East Coast Bias' weekly honor roll.

Sanu had 13 receptions for 129 yards to key Rutgers’ 27-12 win against Army and set school and conference records in the process. With 92 receptions on the season, Sanu broke the BIG EAST single-season record of 91 catches, which was held by Pittsburgh’s Larry Fitzgerald since 2003.

On The Banks left this laying around:

As we learned last year at the Meadowlands, Army doesn't travel at all outside of their cadets. The attendance was pretty lousy for this one. Part of that is Rutgers fans still grousing over the West Virginia loss, but if students aren't going to make the trek to a "home" game in East Rutherford, they certainly aren't going to The Bronx against a lousy opponent. Maybe if Rutgers can draw Missouri or Texas A&M they will.

I don't want to hear a single word from any Rutgers fan about how RU has a foothold in New York City, that is pure fiction. How about RU fans try this: Unless you're in a position to brag about attendance - try to keep your thoughts on the subject to yourselves.

It's tough to lose games like this one, but the silver lining on this season is that so many guys that played will return to play next year. That's pretty much what I take from this season... a healthy belief in the future of the program.

Anyway, your Army/Rutgers Yankee Stadium story, stats and highlights.
