Chas over at Pitt Blather does some FSU to Big 12 myth busting.
Never mind that the rumors started as possibly the second greatest college football troll of all time, the FSU Athletic Director had to come out and issue an outright denial

While We're Ranking...

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

College Football News posted their top 124 giving us Army's second preview blurb of the summer.

Army checked in at #98

98. Army
(2011 Record: 3-9, 2012 Roughly Projected Record: 5-7)

The Knights should be better and this could be the best team Rich Ellerson has put on the field, but it'll still be a fight to get to a bowl game.

It includes the usual comments about the more-than-capable Trent Steelman and the universal caveat regarding the Steelman's Health/Army's success matrix. There are notes regarding the schedule and the expectation of another middling record.

#98 is the highest ranking Army has garnered so far this preseason.

Wack Ballot Watchduck

I'm running out of puns I can use to justify voting the Ducks #1 in the blogpoll. It's not even close to the start of the season and already I've gained mention in the Blogpoll superlatives... once again - it's Wack Ballot Watchdog

Maybe more questionable than Oregon at #1 is my inclusion of Syracuse at #23 and Penn State at #21. Along with the inclusion of the unknown quantity at Ohio State at #15 these indicate a bit of my  northeast bias - either that or I've been mesmerized by the tantric din of rhythmic slapping.

Aside from those reaches at #21 and #23 I don't think the ballot is very wack at all. The Ducks have proven me right before and it's only a matter of time before their soft schedule allows them to cruise back into the Pac12 title game.

Preseason Top 25

Here's a look at a bunch of teams A. that I don't particularly like and B. that I have practically zero knowledge of in regard to the upcoming football season. So take a look at my unbiased, uneducated, lowball expectation of teams that typically occupy top 25 lists.

Downer of an Update

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Sad news out of North Carolina; West Point graduate ('10) and former football player Mario Hill died in an auto accident yesterday.

Danny wild offers up a fine tribute to a man/brother/son way too young to pass.

Alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
Here is a video tribute to Mario.
